Equatorial Guinea Ranked Among Ten Worst-Rated Countries for Press Freedom

(Washington, DC, April 30, 2010) - Freedom House released its 2010 Freedom of the Press Survey on April 30 ahead of the May 3rd World Press Freedom Day. Once again, Equatorial Guinea was cited among the top ten worst-rated countries for press freedom, along with Burma, Iran, Libya, North Korea, and others. Freedom House noted that conditions for the press in Equatorial Guinea remained "dire," as the government utilized "legal pressure, imprisonment, and other forms of harassment to sharply curtail the operations of independent media outlets."

IMF Releases 2010 Equatorial Guinea Statistical Appendix

(Washington, DC, April 30, 2010) - The IMF released today its latest statistical analysis of Equatorial Guinea's economy between 2004-2009.  Oil remained the counties largest revenue source by far in 2009, at 82 percent of the country's total revenue.  Click here to read more.
