This report details concrete measures that Equatorial Guinea should take, both domestically and internationally, to help it meet its goal for the 2009-2010 Universal Periodic Review procedure conducted by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

"Recommendations to the Government of Equatorial Guinea

Ratification of human rights treaties
· To ratify all outstanding human rights treaties, in particular the Second Protocol
to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights aiming at the abolition
of the death penalty, and the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture;
· To incorporate the provisions of international human rights standards into
domestic law.

Arbitrary arrest
· To ensure that nobody is arrested for exercising their rights to freedom of
expression, association and assembly, and that arrests are carried out in
accordance with the law, by law enforcement officials..."
