Freedom House has released the 2012 Freedom in the World Report. For the fourth year in a row, Equatorial Guinea ranked among the “worst of the worst” countries.
Countries receive a score between 1, the most free, and 7, the least free, for both political rights and civil liberties. Nine countries were given the lowest possible score including Equatorial Guinea, North Korea, Uzbekistan, Syria, and Somalia. The report describes Equatorial Guinea as, “a highly corrupt regime with one of the worst human rights records in Africa.”
