The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has issued final rules for legislation aimed at increasing transparency in the oil, gas, and mining industries.

On August 22, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released its final rules for Section 1504 (the "Cardin-Lugar Amendment") of the Dodd-Frank Wall St. Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The rules require all oil, gas, and mining companies that file an annual report to the SEC to publish project-level information regarding their payments to governments for the extraction of natural resources.
