A summary of the international conference, "Between Three Continents: Rethinking Equatorial Guinea on the 40th Anniversary of Its Independence from Spain". From April 2nd to 4th, speakers from around the world shared their expertise on Equatorial Guinea in various panels.

Dear Friend,

This weekend, April 2nd to 4th, 2009, Hofstra University became the hub for some of the most influential thinkers, artists, and activists involved with Equatorial Guinea. They came from all over the US, Europe, and Equatorial Guinea for the international conference entitled "Between Three Continents: Rethinking Equatorial Guinea on the 40th Anniversary of Its Independence from Spain." Also in attendance were ambassadors and high level diplomats representing the government of Equatorial Guinea, which allowed for dynamic dialogue at each panel. The conference expanded the knowledge and social networks of participants, inspiring them to continue working to bring Equatorial Guinea to the center of academic, literary, and political discourse and to foster the growth of this geographically small, yet culturally- and resource-wealthy country.

EG Justice would like to express its deepest gratitude for all of the attendees who helped make the conference a rich experience and also to Hosfra University for making the event possible.

The conference was carefully documented by both Hofstra and students from Chapman University. Excerpts from the panels can be viewed here. Excerpts from a documentary featuring interviews with many of the presenters and organizers can be viewed here.
