Despite the international commitments and recommendations accepted by the Government of Equatorial Guinea, it treats sexual orientation and gender identity as an illness. In fact, the government has enacted a new highly restrictive criminal law that will legitimize violence, inequality, and even trafficking of LGBTQI individuals.

This report by Equatorial Guinea-based human rights NGO, Somos Parte Del Mundo, details the role played by the state, families, churches and other institutions in society, including schools and hospitals, to deny freedoms and violate the fundamental rights of members of the LBGTQI community.
